Musa thompsonii
Musa thompsonii
I think it was Christian who very kindly gave me some seedlings of these and they are doing very well and seem to be pretty hardy. The trouble is I can't seem to find any images of a large plant and wonder if anyone here can oblige. Please please.

Re: Musa thompsonii
Sorry, I don't have a full grown one, but was given a seedling at the Amulree meet last month. I was under the impression they are a Sikkimensis type banana a bit like Helens Hybrid, but other than that I'm not sure.
Best regards
Dave

Carol I've also heard they are hardy-ish, did anyone get any through last winter unscathed The reason I ask is I'm going to have a serious space shortage this winter, as I'm bringing in my huge Alocasia, having lost a few last winter, and want to know what I can reliably leave outside.
Best regards
Dave

I haven't got a thompsonii, but I'm pretty damn near sure they won't be hardy enough to stay out all winter Dave.
If you can squeeze it in anywhere to keep it frost free then I would if I were you, otherwise try it out under your covered bit and cross your fingers
Or you could just let me look after it for you

Re: Musa thompsonii
Thanks for the offer Steve I'm hoping to have a polytunnel by winter, but the way things are going I can't be sure. Too many big stumps slowing me down. I'll try and create a space
Best regards
