 Canna General Eisenhower
I picked up a couple of these Canna General Eisenhower on the Amulree visit on 31st May. I was struck buy the deep, but bright, burgundy foliage. They have grown quickly from around 30cm to around 120cm and are now in flower in 7 weeks. They are not a prolific pupper by the looks of it, but I have one new stem coming on one plant. The flowers are and large and orangy-scarlet

 Re: Canna General Eisenhower
This one i picked up at Amulree on 1st May and like yours it has grown very fast. Bought as a 15 litre plant i have found that it has pupped pretty well, just starting to come into flower. Would recommend to all that grow Cannas

 Re: Canna General Eisenhower
I've been after an ID for an unlabled one bought for my b'day a few weeks back. They took the label out and threw it away as it had the price on. It looks very similar to yours Dave, although the direct sun in your pic is making the flowers look orangey at the tips, are they a uniform red? Mine:

 Re: Canna General Eisenhower
It is a very stunning canna though bob and certainly one i will be buying. There isn't much difference between the general Eisenhower and black knight when it comes to foliage. But it is distinctive when in flower as general Eisenhower have red petals and the black knight are a mixture of red/orange petals. And yours certainly has some orange colour in them if you looks lower down the petal as it joins onto the stem. EDIT:Come to think of it Dave yours looks so much like the Black Knight as well, now this really is confusing. Check out this link and look at the pics of the black knight and compare with yours. http://www.junglegardens.co.uk/PlantOrd ... k/d12.html

I don't know how Dave does it bob he always seems to have monster of plants in his garden. I think he has made his own feed but is keeping it secret

 Re: Canna General Eisenhower
Bob did your flowers start off as an orangey colour and then fade into a red colour? As apparently this is what happens with the black knight.

 Re: Canna General Eisenhower
There really is not much difference in the two canna's at all. and it is very confusing. it would help if the foilage was totally different colour.
