Well that's kind of answered the question I was going to ask I did try to grow a shuttle cock fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris) in one of my tree fern trunks but I kept forgetting to keep it moist and it carked it I've had spores of other ferns self seed on the side of one trunk so we'll see how they do.
