Unless they've just put them out, i was in my local b&q on monday and there weren't any kentias at all. In fact the only palms they had were the usual Phoenix canariensis_CIDP, 2 ft tall @ 20 squid.

They do sell gooduns though, i bought a six footer in december '09 for £12.50, and it's now a healthy 7 footer.

I was in my local B&Q this afternoon and they didn't have a single palm for sale. Plenty of bamboo though.

In the end I was quite disappointed but came away with a nice Eucalyptus, an Azalea Japonica, a good sized Lavender, a Senecio and 3 ornamental grasses.

I hadn't seen the Senecio before and so I was Googling away on my phone to find out about it. It's a Brachyglottis Sunshine Senecio fand I found this info:

"The speceis is an evergreen, sun-loving shrub from New Zealand, proving to be fully hardy on well drained soils. This cultivar is a bushy plant that lends itself to regular trimming creating a very attractive low hedge. Regular clipping also prevents the plant becoming leggy and woody at the base of the stem and encourages dense growth. This is very attractive as both the stems and leaves are covered with white or silvery-grey felt that shimmers in the sun. "

Nice, can't wait to see it in flower.

I don't need any more. Add a 6ft yucca elephantimes, an 8ft rubber plant, a 4 ft prayer plant, a small cheese plant and a couple of draceanas, my house is getting too full 8)

B&Q do a good range of indoor plants at a very good price I think.

They have nice little Schefflera for about £10, and I like the Ficus too.

I bought that one from eBay but it was increadibly heavy and I snapped some of the roots shifting it, it lasted a while but as it deteriorated I put it outside and it was killed one winter.

I then had two that were used in the James Bond film Casino Royale but were in bad shape (thats why I got them), I got both back to good health but lost them to scale attack some years after.

I have another good sized one now, this one a two trunker which isnt as desirable (to me) as the big singles are the best.

Those found in the GCs or DIY sheds are pots with many plants to make them look fuller, nice of course but after having single specimens then its hard to go back to multi stem plants.
