A number of my potted palms require an acid soil. Chambeyronia Macrocarpa, for example is recommended to have bark chips in the acid compost and this is only given soft rain water from the butt. My tap water is very alkaline. Syagrus, I have read require similar treatment.
Perhaps a seasoned palmgrower has some ph information on acid soil loving palms
Palms that require acid soil

Never heard that so far but then I am fairly new to palms GREVILLE,
What sort of soil/compost did you use...Ericacious like I do for Rhodedendrens and Azalias?

Re: Palms that require acid soil
Ravanea rivularis is another I have read about requiring rain water. As I presume these would prefer an acid soil as well, I use a base ericaceous compost 50% and 30% neutral loam from my garden with 10% vermiculite and 10% sharp sand.
If I have to use my alkaline tap water, I've been known to water in a fertiliser that acidifies the mixture.
