Broken Jubaea root

Hi all,

While moving some seedlings around this morning I accidentally snapped the end of a jubaea root off. It was protruding about 2 inches from the bottom of the pot and I didn't realise until it was too late :(

It is a barely-germinated seedling and only beginning to send a shoot up out of the soil so I hope I haven't killed it before it even had a chance to live!!! It appears to be the only root it has at the moment. What do you reckon?

As annoyed as I am with myself, I'm pretty impressed that it managed to grow a root several inches long in the space of 2 weeks!

Anyway, just wanted to have a whinge/moan about it as I was very piffed off!!!

Josh

Hi, Leunerj,
I am not an expert on Jubaea but have grown many palms from seed, In my experience it will depend on what percentage of root you broken off. Is it a deep pot? If so you
should get away with it as it has no leaves to support. Good luck and let us know the end result. icon_thumright
