What temperatures do you set your propagators at when germinating palm seeds? Thanks Jas.

Trachycarpus seeds germinate at room temperature. You'll have to be more specific
Different temps for different palms

I'd like to know the propogation temp for Washingtonia, think it might be filifera.

Nothing is happening at the minute and its set at 25 degrees.

They normally germinate in about 7-10 days at 25-30c after a 24 hour soak

OK ,this is the setup at the moment,
Propagator has three shelves, bottom one is set at 35c, the heat then rises and heats the second shelf at lower twenties and the top shelf which I use for seedlings is mid teens. The propagator is in an unheated room, as spring advances I expect the temperatures on the top two shelves to rise.
Seeds in at the moment are Brahea Armata, Butia (various),
Caryota Maxima, Chamaerops cerifera, Dypsis lutescens, Jubaea, Livistona (various), Phoenix (various), Sabal (various), wagnerianus, robusta, plus others unknown.
So far date palm, robusta, and dragon tree are germinating. Any suggestions greatly received.

my own experiences
brahea 6 months + but I had one pop in 6 weeks 25-28c
jubea grow old and wait forever
dypsis lutescens 30c plus seed must be fresh
caryota 3 months + 25-30c
sabal 2-6 months 25-30c
chamaerops 3-26 weeks 20-28c
livistona 3 months ish 25-28c
unknown 1-104 weeks temps ranging from cold stratification to tropical hot
As I said this is my own experience, other people will have differing results

Thanks Garry, know what you mean with regards to Jubea . Will put everything on the the bottom shelf and turn down to 30c, except the waggies which I will put on the middle shelf. Regards Jas.

How well do Jubaea seeds keep? Do they also need to be fresh, or will they keep for ages like date palm seeds?

I`m afraid I cant answer that, I have seeds I have had for nearly 12 months, they look fine but haven't germinated. I should have broken one open to see what the inside was like but due to lack of space I have just mixed them up with a new batch I collected in January. Sorry.

i had some fresh jubaea seeds from nz,germinated within weeks at 25c. had some from europalms,same temp nothing in a year.chucked the bag in the shoebox to forget and 7 sprouted at room temp within 3 months

That is one thing I found, with the 'hardy' palms they germinate at a lower temp. Makes sense I suppose
