Palm identity

Post by Conifers »

This wikipedia pic claims to show Serenoa repens. I'm thinking it's Chamaerops humilis.

What do others think?

Plenty of teeth on the petioles! Look at the ones lower right corner. They're not obvious on some of the petioles because they're burnt out by the bright light behind.

The teeth are well-spaced and fairly long (spines more than teeth), whereas pics of Serenoa show it with closely-spaced small teeth (like a sawblade).

Found there's another pic of the same plant - it's got a 1.5-2 metre trunk.

Nope! Genuinely hadn't noticed there was a second pic of the same palm - the second wasn't linked from the Serenoa repens gallery I found the first on, only found it later when I looked at the Serenoa repens category.

Both pics will shortly be disappearing from the category, 'coz I'm going to rename them now and shift them over to Chammy. Thanks everyone! icon_thumright

Done! They're renamed now:
First pic
Second pic
