Cycad pectinata

Post by kata » Mon Jan 14, 2013 9:40 pm

I really like this Cycad,

Its on the IUCN Red List as Vulnerable. I think we should do as they are doing with the Wollemi Pine, the Dinosaur palm, buy a seedling.

I have only one Cycad at the moment so a possible contender.

Go to the PalmCentre the postage is only £10 at the moment and you can get bigger plants for not much more.
That Ebay is .com its in the States, the plants won't survive the journey or they phyto rigmarole.

Kata if you want a reasonably large and well priced cycad or dioon, the well known Spanish/German eBayer has plenty. I bought a dioon spinulosum for about 30 quid inc postage. The Caudex is the size of a medium pineapple and five fronds 60cms tall. It arrived in perfect condition. He also sells large cycad revolutas for a similar price.

It would be nice but we need a sunny conservatory that is around 35*c for at least 90 days of the year.

:|
2012 Highest Temp - May 24th: 27*C / 25th July: 28*c
2012 Lowest Temp - Febuary 3rd: -6*C
2013 Highest Temp - 13th July: 30*c
2013 Lowest Temp - 13th March -4.5*c.
