I always wonder how they get them to grow that big in those tiny pots? Because everybody says they stall when the root space is limited and romp away once planted in the ground.

It hard to say something about trunc scale, but my first impression is the that one that I grow in my garden has a bigger trunc already or at least very similair

There are some really nice large CIDPs in Torquay and Falmouth plus lots of other palms as well so It would be interesting to have some pictures of them as well.

Have we no forum members in those areas?

Also the largest J Chilensis in Europe growing outside in northern Europe is found in the Channel islands [Jersey].

This J chilensis is about 17 metres tall and is twice the size in hieght then the Torquay Jubaeas so we should get a picture of this one on a seperate thread.

I was told that some of the best ones in Falmouth were recently removed from several private houses which is a real shame and leaves the town a rather Px free zone! I still believe that Greater London leads the way in size, numbers, quality and variety of palms in the UK mainland!

They look lovely outdoors :D

ive got one indoors but its a long long way from those, mine hasn't got a trunk yet even
does anyone know how long it takes for them to get a trunk? ive had mine a year and it
really is doing ok minus a few brown specs on the leaves or tips (Got 2 new leaves coming up)
I also put it outside in the sun when its warm but bring it indoors in the night :D

So many good pictures lost since 2014 :(

This one in Walworth may not look large, but it still reaches the top of the 2nd floor window:

Nice specimen. Is the pile of dead fronds nearby a casualty from the beast from the east or frond prunings not yet recycled?

Unlikely to have been the Beast from the East, my much smaller Phoenix canariensis_CIDP in less urban heat and more exposed, didn't show any damage.
