luckily bigplant nursery are going to replace it. i've read somewhere that some palms have a heart below soil level (butias), but others have a heart above. i guess trachies are the latter.

Mumfie, small palms may have heart at or below ground level, but none, to my knowledge remain so. In general it will be around a 1 to 2 feet below where the spears are emerging from. A Butia with a 6ft trunk will have the heart well above ground level.

Bit more movement:
Reflector is to bounce some light to the other side, as it's a little in the shade of some irises at this size Got hit by rain yesterday evening, when I was on way back from seaside, otherwise I have kept it dry for the last month.
