i think if they are attached to the mother, there will be enough energy for a jungle full of new plants
have you seen the thread with that tree like root sprawling through Daves soil yet?

They seem very hard to come by so maybe that is it? I have NEVER seen one for sale and I've been to ALOT of garden centres. Will do my best to track one down this year as I think my pup is dead
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

In relation to the T-rex. I have a small pup in my poly house and the stem feels very soft to the touch, is this normal?
No, I don't feel the stems normally

Seriously, I expect not, but don't feel mine

I notice that some people are posting as if it is a good thing to have T Rex pups coming up in february. I suspect that they are people who either don't have one yet or have recently acquired or planted one out.

Speaking as someone who has two well established plants I offer Dave my sympathies rather than my congratulations. It is likely to go on pupping until about June, so that is a lot of additional work to keep on top of, as I found out for myself last year.

My plant in the front garden has faired better that last year so far. I think three out of the five stems have lost the growing point and unlike last year they are all firm to the top of the stem. The palnt in the back has done worse and lost the growing point whereas it managed to hold on to it last year. I haven't noticed any pups coming up yet.

My Rex got hit very hard, and probably lost about 8" of stem, but the remaining 3ft feels quite firm now.

No signs of life yet, but I will be surprised if this beast is dead, and I hope it isnt, if for no other reason that having little baby beasties popping up all over the place from the roots.

I seriously want to get mine contained this year....

Arlon, I know there's plenty of time yet, I think I could be over run with pups this spring, if so I'll dig some up and plant where the deck is going in, I want to put big leafed plants in there, but thanks for your kind offer, but if they don't pup I'll give it a home if you don't mind.
