At one point I had 63 different species on the go, it a stage you go through.

Reading some of those in your lists tells me they are small seedlings or recent imports because they wont make it to the garden.

Couldn't agree with this statement more, grown many palms from seed or bought as seedlings, most were incredibly slow, all now dead except a Nova

This is what I have got (or got on order) so far, some are seedlings.

3 x Chamaerops Humilis
Chamaerops Humilis var Cerifera
2 x Chamaerops Humilis var Vulcano
6 x Trachycarpus Fortunei (including one double trunked)
Trachycarpus Princeps
Trachycarpus Naini Tal
2 x Trachycarpus Takil
2 x Trachycarpus Geminisectus
2 x Trachycarpus Nanus
2 x Trachycarpus Oreophilus
2 x Trachycarpus Latisectus
2 x Trachycarpus Darjeeling
2 x Trachycarpus Wagnerianus
Trachycarpus Martianus
2 x Brahea sp 'Super Silver'
Brahea Armata
Jubaea Chilensis
2 x Washingtonia Robusta (although I'm not sure these are going to pull through)
Butia Capitata
and, hopefully, a Butia Yatay (if the rooted seed produces a shoot) and a Butia Lallementii if Nigel has any spares.

I've also planted some Bamboo Palm seeds under the tree canopy in my garden, not sure whether they'll take but I got them for free so it's a cost free experiment.

With all the varieties of Trachycarpus and the super silver, I bought 2 of these because I'm going to keep one of each safely indoors from the end of October and push the envelope with the other and see how hardy they really are up North. I'll let them stay out longer and colder each year until they either die or laugh in the face of a Brit winter.

Share your collection and feel free to post pics.

Agreed. But its all good fun. Like Ade i have too many to list here and have experimented with many tender species over the years. Now i try and concentrate on the hardier stuff (of which there are still plenty to grow).

My problem is that 8/9 years on i have alot of stuff that has survived and need repotting most years, and i have no room left in the garden to plant them :(

I do, but I didn't when I posted this. That's why it says "if Nigel has got any spare".

I've got another Brahea, a couple of R. Hystrix, a Trachycarpus Nova, a Manipur and 2 more Jubaeas since then too.

   tell me about it   Mike gave me an obscene number of butia strictior seeds,i didnt expect gross germination rates but now have probably 200 plus growing in pots and trays.
this wasnt expected but needs dealing with as i expect a few people will be glad to recieve a few in the future,
im also growing masses of Ades various seeds, particularly that rocket nainital which was originally bought as takil, there must be a couple of hundred at least of these.ive just had a mass germination in a window box tray outside,so many popped and sprouted at the same time,it looks like the soil erupted and has risen in spectacular fashion.the difference with the trachies though is these will get left outside,im anticipating at least 75% dying if not more but whats left should be quite tough.
i did this with a bag from Dave, had hundreds sprout but now have a dozen or so firm healthy plants which are currently undergoing different additive tests icon_thumright

Yorkshire Kris wrote:I only have small palms but playing the long game on most. Some like the sabals are just for fun and unlikely to make large plants. The rest will be planted out at some stage in their lives.

I have got most of the hardyish palms available, mostly as very young plants.
Since last year I've picked up more palm seedlings such as jubutia and butiigrus etc.
