wanted - definitive list of growing temperatures

Post by mumfie »

for example, i think dave has stated that sabal minor needs 30deg plus to ACTIVELY grow. I would like a list of ideal temps for ACTIVE growth of the usual suspects
ie
trachycarpus
chamaerops
Phoenix canariensis_CIDP
brahae armata
sabal minor
mazari palm
butia capitata
non palm - cordyline
non palm - cycad revoluta

this would help me, and others, understand the best times to start/finish feeding, etc

Good idea,
Add to the list:

Washingtonia robusta
Syagrus romanzoffiana
flounder

personally, I don't think you can make a 'definitive' list. Its alright saying at Y degrees this plant will be actively growing or at X degrees that one. Siting is a factor as well. The thermometer may read one thing, but a windy site will lower the ground temperature, as will types of soil ie moisture content of sandy, clay etc
Just my personal feeling on this, might be totally wrong icon_salut
