ensete question

Post by Mr List »

i am thinking of planting my ensete in the ground this year maybe as a view to using it as bedding but if i do try and take it out of the ground in autumn/winter will it likely harm the schefflera macrophylia, chapana and fatsia polycarpa that will be its nearest neighbours?

I cant see why......will it be chopped and stored dry for winter ? if so you dont need do dig up much root as it will be chopped off anyway.

The roots wont be a problem but perhaps it will shade out your other plants?

The ensete can be removed without any roots in autumn. The roots left in the ground will rot down over winter and provide some goodness for the other plants.
