Yes - it bent the new spear while it was still soft.

Probably too late now, but if the stem is still pliable, you could try pushing it back inside the sheath (the leaf base that's supposed to hold it straight until it stiffens, but couldn't cope with the wind force) and tying it back in, then it might straighten up.

this happened a good few days ago now so i don't think it would work.

It looks split anyway, just cut it off at the split, shame that, I know how nice it is to see the fresh culms growing :(

On a brighter note I much approve of the shingle/gravel you have going around the lawn icon_thumleft I hated that red bark so much :lol: , personal taste I know, but it looks sooooo much better now.

well the stones don't have cat shallot in them as much as the bark did. icon_thumleft
