is this bamboo too close

little worried how close this bamboo is to this schefflera
how will things go as it get bigger?

will the bamboo kill off the scheffy or just grow around it?

Being that close i would think the boo has already invaded the sheffys roots.

Yes, definitely a root tangle going on there beneath the surface.

I've planted bamboos close to Fatsias and ferns though and they always seem to work out a way to get to the edge and compete for light.

What kind of Boo is it? If it's a straight rather than an arching variety you can always abort the culms in that area if the Scheffie starts to suffer.

the trunk of the schefflera is really bent at the base so it is about 4 inches further away where it goes into the soil.
