Hi guys I’ve been clearing out the greenhouse today, and found a few sorry looking specimens that have been hidden at the back for a few years 😳.All were half dead bargains, with the exception of the strelitzia.Anyone know what they are please? The strelitzia is very pot bound, there is no bottom to the pot anymore I need to repot it,but will it harm the flowers that are developing ?

hi the first one looks like a pony tail palm -Beaucarnea recurvata to be.No arm will come from repoting the Strelitzia im sure will probably give it a boost. The palm in the last one ill pass on.

Hi Vivi.

Confirm the Nolina and Strelitzia. The 'almost dead' palm could be a Kentia but too difficult to say at this stage. You might restore some slow growth if you soak the rootball for 24 hours in warm water.

If these plants kept being cooked and dried out at the back of your greenhouse them it's typical that Strelitzia and Nolina should survive this treatment. Also I spotted a mature gasteria which would have positively thrived on such mistreatment.

If all the rootballs are dry then a good soak with lift them.
