Im loving them both....are they hardy ????? if so I want one.

Reasonably, I think the schefflera is hardier but both came through last winter with just a fleece bag.

They have a similar growth rate to other fatsia, I'll see if I can dig a pic of when I first purchased a few years ago. It was in a pot till last year though.

I was thinking of moving Fatsia Japonica and replacing it with a other more unusual one.

Polycarpa when first purchased, August 2011. Note is was only planted out in 2012 around the same time as the Schefflera. Both have been moved from original position.

And the Schefflera purchased Spring 2012, planted out immediately.

Since I already got my polycarpa thanks to you wonderful Brits I am now on the look out for the sheffy..might be hard to find over here but they both look wonderful for sure..

Well after the best part of 24 hours straight rain I got to use my bin sump pump for the first time.

I came home to standing water in the usual places and decided to check the bin which was full. So out came the pump, 5 mins later bin was empty to pump level and an hour later all standing water gone from the garden icon_cheers

Heavy rain for most of last night led to a wet garden so pump time!

It was then left for a while so more water could drain off the garden then:
Filling again

Empty again!!!
Empty again!!!
I think it's a pretty good solution if you have the room, my only slight concern is if the bin caves in on itself, I may put a couple of wood braces across to prevent this.
