European bison in the wild in The Netherlands.

Post by Alexander »

Last tuesday I went to a naturereserve not far that from Amsterdam where they have reintroduced the European bison in 2007. Its an area of arround 300 hectares where they live. I did see a couple of them in the far distance. Awesome animals they are! Hopefully in the futur they will enlarge the livingspace for them. And introduce them hopefully to more good habitat for them.

Wouldn't have thought you had much space in Holland, Alexander.

Just don't wear red if visiting, unless you can run very fast.

Well you should never run fast away! But keep a save distance of about 75 meters. And not turn you back to them nor looking in their eyes.

And I never wear red anyway.

I thought that a bison was something that an Australian washed his face in

Well Australia had never bisons. Only marsupials.

And I am talking about the species Bison bonasus.

Dim was making a dim joke about Australian pronunciation, they pronounce 'basin' the same as English people pronounce 'bison'

Shame we don't have a like button, I'm cracking up over this  I saw the funny side, even if off topic to Alexander's subject.

I see, I had allready some sort of feeling. Well I am not so familiar with the language from Down Under, otherwise I would have noticed it.

Cheers,
