Any idea what this animal is/was?
It's in the woods near Otley?

I can't make much out on my laptop. Does it look like a big bird? The only bird I know which long legs and neck is the Rhea. Its flightless so will not have flown up there. Can I see long toes to the top left of the photo? Rhea have thick toes, a bit more like pigs feet (can't remember technical name) as opposed to the thin toes of wild birds or chickens.

What does it look like Kris?

I really don't know what it is, I'm really puzzled. Possibly a pheasant?

It doesn't have the bill of a heron or crane to my eyes anyway but it's hard to tell. How long would you estimate it was Base to bill? I doubt it would have died there so maybe someone dumped it?

Pheasant. Presumably an unretrieved casualty of the local shoot

If significantly larger than I think, then probably a dumped Turkey carcass.

I'm not sure what it is but I am sure that it's as dead as a Dodo! :P

The beak doesn't seem to match the body in my eyes. Canada goose for the head and heron for the body! icon_scratch

Having looked again, I think Conifers is right! icon_thumleft

This photo was taken by a friend yesterday. Apparently there were a couple of dead birds like this and a mole stuck to a fence. A shot pheasant makes sense I guess.
Such a shame if it is a shot bird.

The long neck and apparent size looks nothing like a Pheasant though.

Bit of a long shot but could it be a peacock? A female one that is, as there seems to be no long tail feathers of a male.

Yes! A quick google of peacock skeleton and the neck looks very similar and nothing like nothing in native birds.
