Will this be our first storm this Autumn or a damp squid, providing it comes round this way?

Should know in 4 or 5 days. It doesn't take old hurricanes long to cross the Atlantic.

Need something to shake the British Isles free form these meandering lows, hanging around on street corners. They need an ASBO.

Big contrast from east to west coast in North America right now. East coast with a recent earthquake and now a hurricane bearing down. West coast sunny and very pleasant top to bottom. 28°C / 82°F today, much hotter inland with areas in the 100°F plus range. Some desert areas in the SW have reached 46°C / 115°F.

Cheers, Barrie.

Not surprised it is petering up at that latitude. It is worrying me :ahhh!: even the hurricanes are taking a different route to the norm. How many track up across Canada :?: . If the winter lows do that, we are in trouble :(

Pffft!!

'Hype'ercane of the century

The media does love a beat-up, and for some reason the Americans love to revel in self-indulgent drawn out misery, even if it is in the form of a windy wet day...

Granted you guys might get a bit of weather out of her, but Im sure it wont dominate international news or shut down a city...

Meanwhile....Typhoon Mina, 10 dead and 6 missing in the Philippines rates as a footnote in the news bulletins...

I agree Sean, was watching CNN over the weekend & it was hilarious! I have seen windier summer afternoons on Southsea seafront! Yet all the reporters/newscasters were talking like Dorothy was going to be uprooted from Kansas again, this as the screen was giving out current windspeeds in various locations, most of which were "Wind 23mph - Gust 32mph"

Granted some places had a fair drop of rain, but here that sort of wind would be described as 'a bit breezy'...
