Yes I think you are right october 2009 -it did snow, and yes it was cold that winter!

I'm just saying snow in october doesn't always mean it's going to be a bad winter.

I'm just in denial that we could get another bad winter

I will see the first half of October being warm as southerly winds will bring warm air north across the UK. This normally happens when high pressure ridges north of over Scandinavia, then winds will be easterly.

Just seen this posted on another website:

Today in history: 25 September.

1885: London recorded its earliest snowfall ever.

Ive got all the prep in place. Even dug up the phormiums today and put them in pots ready to move undercover. I lost a lot of money on plants over the last two years, it may happen, it might not but if it does i will be smug. icon_thumright

...and I'll have a house full.

A little snow is nothing to worry about. Nobody's forecasting 40mph winds and -10s are they?

I did manage a fall of snow which settled lightly on 28th October 2008 and this in London but high ground (100m asl), the earliest in 26 years living here.

I do remember landing at Gatwick airport in a blizzard of wet snow and sleet on October 11th 1974 after coming back from a month in California having got used to 30c plus for much of that time. What a shock to the system that was  The day after returning I went to see a friend who lived on high ground outside Haslemere in Surrey and ther was still some lying snow in her garden.

Fancy talking about this when we might reach 30c on October 1st

Nicely put GB. I don't mind the snow i just don't like the constant freezing temps like last year. That we can all do without of.

Got my fleece bags from Amazan today, need to order more next week.

Put the met office weather widget on my blog...I am mowing the lawn for the last time shortly, like any minute now if no wasps are spotted.

All my plants are in pots, I need more sun till the Canna flowers though.
