By the way the news reader has very bad pronunciation. The first place she mentions is Holmfirth.

I always thought the most popular explanation for UFO sightings was weirdos, not clouds.

You live and learn!

Amazing Kris, did you get to see any? You can understand the UFO connection, they do look other worldly :lol:

I didn't venture out during daylight hours so no cloud spotting for me. Saw a few UFOs though :lol: :lol:

Beautiful and very rare Kris. But i`ve always wanted to witness the boob cloud. Mammatus ( named after the mammary gland or female breast) Even rarer and even more beautiful. Especially if your a breast man. 8)

I never would have though lenticular clouds would have formed in the UK with its gentle topograhy, quite an extraordinary sight!

Andy we get mammatus clouds here from time to time with severe thunderstorms this time of year, but I have never seen these clouds before;

Very interesting stuff. I did see some massive Cumulonimbus clouds this year when i was in Florida and we had a huge thunderstorm. Hailstones the size of marbles fell and twenty minutes later the clouds cleared and it was 35 degrees and sunny again. The only clouds i generally see in the N West of the UK are Nimbostratus. Pretty much everyday. :(

Wow, they are funky! icon_thumright

As a child I used to love laying on the lawn & looking at clouds, seeing them change shape & turn into all sorts of objects/animals... Ok so I still like to do it now too :lol:

Youll love this then Nathan;

Also amazing are 'hole punch clouds' where ice crystals form and then fall to the ground leaving behind a circular cloudfree patch. Ive only seen it once and it was very impressive, almost eerie...
