I think if anyone has been badly affected they probably won't be on here Karl.
There was due to be flooding in Gravesend, but all the news is only "Nelson Mandela" so don't know what actually happened.

Hull has been badly hit. Huge flood damage. Luckily not for me although I need a new poly house.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

Just spent the morning down at the coast here. Some big waves on the sea, and a few bits of seaweed on the promenade, but nothing else to suggest anything out of the ordinary. I'd been half expecting the promenade to be cordoned off, with bits missing washed away.

The surge was always likely to be least where the sea is widest. It's as water is driven south towards the straights of Dover it funnels like the Severn bore, but I think the wind was driving it eastward towards the Holland and Belgium side.Conifers wrote:Just spent the morning down at the coast here. We sailed out from Hull on Thursday night. We were delayed 3 hours due to the exceptionally high tide which was 2 metres above the expected level, the boarding gantries were under water for two and a half hours.
