Australia climate map

Post by Las Palmas Norte »

Here's an image of an Australian climate map.
I was wondering if it's fairly accurate or a poor estimation?
Perhaps Sean (or anyone really) set the record straight?
Better images may help too.

Cheers, Barrie.

It does seem a bit unsure as to whether its a climate map or a landscape map. icon_scratch

The map is climactic in origin and not pertaining to landscapes.
Equatorial is in relation to the climates proximity to the earths equator.

Barrie I think the problem is that areas called "Grassland" for example, cant be a climate, can it? :)

So to me, its mixing climate with types of landscape, so I can see where Robbin is coming from.

Yes that explains things a bit better, but I still think something is missing when describing the "climate" of an area.

Temperature I would have thought would have played a part. :)

Equatorial means at the equator. There the temperature is the same all over the year, now real seasons either. Usually its a wet tropical rainforest climate. A city like Singapore has a typical equatorial climate. The farther north or south you go the greater the seasonal differences like our 4 seasons in Europe.
