Hi,
My name is Sue and I am astonished that my son Dean, who has just registered on this site, is so hooked into tropical gardening. Long may it last...
We have loved tropicals for many years and can't resist buying plants.. saying "but where are we going to put that?" and always finding somewhere.
We have a small suburban garden in Kent but feel we could be anywhere when we go into our paradise.
As a great lover of the carribean we feel that this is our "tropical paradise".
After seeing many of the gardens on this site.. it has given us motivation to plant and experiment more.
I posted a few photos of our garden.

Hi Sue, welcome to HTUK.
You have a beautiful garden and it's obviously been an inspiration to your son.

Welcome to the forum. Lovely, lush garden with a great mix of plants. You're not here to learn, you're here to teach.

Thankyou for all your comments.
I think gardening is all about learning and there are always questions to be asked..
The one thing we can't have any control over is the weather!!!!
I am posting some more recent photos and as you can see we do very well with the bananas all except the red ones...
Do we keep them in a pot? put them in the ground? dig them up in winter? cut the leaves off? we never seem to have any success.. advice please.
The joy of our pond is that it is overlooked by our conseratory so we can sit and enjoy!
Because it's so near the house and is surrounded by plants we seem to have less problems with herons.
Perhaps now Dean is so interested in the garden we will have some help before winter putting the plants in the greenhouse and wrapping them up.. you never know!!!

Hi Fremma, and welcome to the forum
Your not that far from me, then.
Good looking garden, and like others, love the pond and waterfall. Unlike you I have mega problems with Herons, as the UK's largest Heronry at the RSPB Northhill reserve, is only 2 1/2 miles away (as the Heron flies).
By Red Banana do you mean Ensete Maurelii, or the Red Rowe (basjoo) M rubra?
