Hi everyone from south yorkshire
Hi, My name is Lizzie
I caught the exotic gardening bug 2 years ago.
But with 2 harsh winters and the gardening novice i am, Ive lost more than I've grown.
Slowly trying to develop a sheltered private garden. I have a couple of bamboos, trachycarpus fortunai, hedychium forestii, spicata and musa basjoo.
The ricinus i grew from seed was a success this year so will try another next year.
My ambition is to get all my tropical plants to survive the winter so i can build on my collection next year, as i already have next years shopping list ready.

Hi Lizzie , and welcome to the forum
A bit of a tall order getting everything to survive... wish I could do that I just aim to keep my losses to a minimum. With the right plants and knowing what will need protection, and how to do it, will give you a better chance.

Hi Lizzie, glad to hear you're still enthusiastic about exotic gardening then after the last couple of harsh winters.
How did you over winter your Hedychium's then, or are they new this year?

I had assam orange which i piled high with bark but it died last winter. I purchased another this summer so we'll try again.
