We are all thoroughly impressed at what you can achieve in your garden after -27c icon_thumleft I assume +27c in the summer can help icon_sunny

Thanks again for your kind words
I live about 10 km from the cost (of Öresund).
Will post lots of photos on winter protection for palms, tree ferns etc later on.
Must also mention that the -27C was measured close to the house during the winter 2010/2011, probably even 2-3C lower in the garden. And that was an extreme by large !
Normally we do not have colder than -14C, and that rarely happens.
But this winter was both mild at first an then -15C for some weeks without snow :!:
That made the frost in the ground go deep icon_thumbdown
My bamboos have suffered damage, especially the vivax ('Aureocaulis' & 'Huangwenzhu').
Lots of leaf burns this winter and also damage & stress to the stems again. Last winter pushed the stems to have large black fields/discolouring due to cold damages, the lows temperatures forced the vivax to go below the deadly limit -22C.... But they survived.
Lets hope for a warm 2012 (I am still waiting for the green house effect that they have promised.. :? ).

Hi Thomas, and welcome to the forum icon_salut

I can only echo what others have said, "wow, an amazing garden", even more wow for where it is. It just shows what you can do with a bit of dedication and planning for winter.
Best regards
Dave

Update: Youtube from my garden in Sweden

Post by Thomas Bergqwist »

Well time to post an update from the garden :alien:
It is an spontaneous film “shot on the fly", so you will see unhidden hoses... and a newly planted bonsai ... but it was really an OK film anyway :-)
