Tropical plant for dry shade

Can anyone recommend a tropical looking large plant for a shady corner. My garden is in an old chalk put and it needs to compete with some large trees.

What does anyone recommend? Will a fatsia be ok?

A tree fern wouldn't like it dry, so like Rob says it would take lots and lots of water. If your not after a large specimen how about some ideas from here (I have no affiliation to the website).
