New member from South Carolina
Hello to everyone! I know, this is a UK forum but I've been lurking for a while and really enjoy the insight from y'all "across the pond". I'm pushing the limits with different species here and the principles of protecting "borderline" species are the same worldwide. Have already learned some different things here even though I've been growing palms for over 30 years! Great forum!!!!

Hi Gpenny, and welcome
You must be about the northern limit of Sabal palms, where you get decent summers but cold winters compared to here. Glad you find some of the info useful What palms are you into? and any pics?

Heres a photo of some Sabal palmettos and Sabal minors around the pool.

Welcome Gpenny, I don't know what I'm more envious of, your palms or your pool, very nice.

Great garden Gp, and great palms.
You say you have been growing palms for 30 years, are those in the pics grown from seed or from small?

Things are finally cooling down here after a long, hot summer. I think we recorded over 130 days this year with high temperatures above 90F.!!! I have always admired the lushness of your English gardens due to plentiful rainfall and temperate weather. Here the heat makes extra irrigation necessary in spite of 45-50 inches of rain a year.

Thanks! Most of my palms are seed grown. The palmettos in the photo were planted as 5g plants about 25 years ago.
