Reply here when you get a proper frost!

Post by Yorkshire Kris »

Hopefully this thread wont get many replies for a long time.

Basically state when you get your first frost here.

DEFINITION: When the temp in your own garden goes below -0.5 degrees as recorded on your OWN thermometer. (-0.5 because thermometers can be half a degree out.)

Nathan, I'm not expecting any reply from you this year!

Had a couple of minor frosts ages ago, nothing since, last night the first proper frost. 0.5C in the greenhouse ... no outside thermometer but car said it was -3C at 7AM

Cannas looking dark & floppy. Dahlias not looking black, but I expect they just need a few more hours.

Still had negligible rain here, so soil (heavy clay) still very dry, so not planning to lift anything until it gets persistently cold/colder or wetter.
