I have had a garden for years and years. I gardened for mum and dad. Been here almost two years learnt loads but not it all...does anyone know it all even Dave? No, because we are always discovering new ways, new plants and palms.

The Cycad I have IS more yellow than custard and could end up pulling come summer. I spent a long time on that palm throwing water at it, thats how it ends up-. The new fronds look like freakin curly whirlies...and yellow.

The sooner the ruddy palm pulls the better.

With my knowledge unlike Dave's is not years, and years so I can not at this moment advise anyone anything Tropical. Ask me flowers and Maples..fine.

I think the 'experts' on here are those who have a keen interest in exotics coupled with years of experience.

We're all keen gardeners and some have more knowledge and experience than others but we're all happy to share what we've done and what we've learned.

I think your idea is a good one, there's no shame in not knowing answers but it's important to get that across, especially to newer members who are looking for help. First responses to questions are often the ones that are taken to heart.

Please dont fall out over my bloody cyad . Once the thing has flushed again & going to sell it to someone on here who specialises in these as there very fussy to look after. This is a beast with a caudex of 8 inches accross & cercumference of 26 inches, & height about 17/18 inches. Got to be worth £140. There selling everywhere between £250/300 this size. karl.

Was it one of Kel's plants ? (Akamba) They had some nice trunked Cycads up there but they took a right beating even in the polys.
Still, makes the big ones affordable if they are just logs for a while.

Yes adrian it was one of theres, but when i bought it about last july it had light green fronds but they were slightly stunted, over the next 6/7 months they grew lovely & lush and a proper dark green without a mark anywhere, then bang they started to discolour until yesterday i cut the lot off on the advice of akamba. hopefully the end of the wk i will take it back outside & put a big plastic 5 litre bottle over the caudex to try & sweat it into action.

I think it's too early in the year to expect it to flush.
