washingtonia robusta seeds

Post by Adrian Brattle » Fri Apr 27, 2012 10:28 am

Ive got some seeds of W. robusta it looks a nice house plant and summer bedding. In the north wast of Newcastle it would be a waste of time keeping it outside permanently,
as we had radiation frost blow -10*C over the past three winters. I wonder if Dave had any fruits on his yet?

I think they'd make a very good houseplant, especially if you have a consevetry as they grow quick!

I have one on my windowsill and its definately grown a lot quicker than my ones in my glasshouse icon_thumleft

They don't make good houseplants as they have a high light requirement, they will do ok in a conservatory though...

No Washingtonia has ever fruited in the UK, though I imagine if one was to it would be Barry's from north London that does first, as it is huge icon_thumright
