Coming later tonight.. feel free to post yours here. I suspect a below average winter as it currently stands!

I would say average, with maybe slightly below average temps due to the prolonged coolness in February. However, no winter damage visible on any plants in my tunnels , a good winter for my business.

No detailed stats from me, but my impressions are of a long and chilly, but never cold, winter. Nothing below -4°, which is highly unusual, one of the mildest winters ever in terms of the coldest minimum (get -7° or -8° in most years, and -5° at least once in something like 95-98% of winters), and no pond ice that came anywhere remotely near thick enough to walk on. But I'd also say a slightly above average number of nights with 0 to -3°.

Looks like most of you escaped the worst of the winter then. The story is completely different over on the other side of the North Sea.

We've been about 2 degrees below average for the winter combined. Definitely one of the coldest, on par with or slightly colder than 2010/11 and only beaten by 2009/10 in recent decades. Luckily the temperature did not fall below 6,5 minus but that did not prevent serious damage to plants in the ground or plants in pots undercover.

All my cordylines have been cut back to the ground from the prolonged cold spells we had i december and january. Lots of potted succulents have turned to mush, including yucca aloifolia that were kept very dry. A big Agave americana variegata that I never got around to planting is also dead. Allover a disaster, never lost so many plants before...

The only positives about this winter are that it's been a dry and sunny one, but it comes at a price...

Need some more time for this, will show them later. Proberly will be average because as warmer december, but in general this winter was a cold and horrible one again. Two pure winter months with a destructive period in January for the exotic garden. This was the fifth winter a row that there where more then 10 ice days and that is never happend since they start recording in 1900. This time the southwest was the "hotspot" for the winter, or better called cold spot.

Proberly this are our new winters, a long time frostfree followed by a long continued freeze that can kill a lot if you don't watch out. No new exotics for me this year, only some unsual hardy shrubs that can give the garden a exotic flavour, filled by some seasonal stuff. New stuff/experiments are for when winters getting milder again, or for when I ever emigrated.

The most notable thing about this winter has been the lack of sunshine.

Endless cold dull days with a biting wind but except for one day not much in the way of snow.

All the exotics in Southampton seem to still be okay but most Agaves have gone a bit spotty.

Basjoos seem to be in perfect condition under the hanging dead leaves from last summer and all palm trees in the City including mine are okay as well.

The coldest night had a low of -2.5c and that was repeated on 2 nights in mid february.

But to be honest there have been very few frosts here in Southampton due to the cloudy night skies.

Generally a cold, sunless winter with repeated long cold spells with brief milder interludes. Winds were predominately easterly with cold continental air. Not the coldest winter in the last 6 years but certainly the most depressing icon_thumbdown
