Humminbird Hawk Moth

Post by otorongo »

I just saw a hummingird hawk moth on my Buddleja, had my camera with me but didn't manage to take a pic, it takes like 3 seconds to boot up and that was too long. It flew away and came back a minute later, I turned on the camera again and it was gone before the cam was ready.

Do you guys see them often?

It was the first time I saw one in the UK, and the second time I saw one at all. The first one was in Ancona, Italy in May this year.

I hope we get more of them, it's the closest thing to a hummingbird we can get as it stands.

We had one in the garden a couple of years ago, haven't seen one since though. Amazing things aren't they ?! :D

We had this one on our verbena last year. It was a nightmare trying to keep up with it flitting from one flower to another. This was the best picture I could get!
I haven't seen any this year so far.
