My garden is totally exposed to sw winds. I've moved most of my plants into a mute sheltered area and laid down my potted bamboos. The big jubaea is going to get battered.

Its building up here, the wind is more gusty now and the sea is roaring.

Quite nice, sunny and 17C here in my bit of S. Devon. There's a bit of a breeze causing a Lombardy poplar on the other side of the hill to wiggle and bend a bit, but nothing extraordinary for a late October day. The truly rough stuff looks to be still way out in the Atlantic, west of Portugal so I don't expect it will hit us for a good few hours yet.

I'm in Heybrook Bay around the headland from you so will be interesting to see how the wind hits us both!!
Lets hope its not as bad as the hype!! As you say, we are well used to big blows from the SW.

The SW winds won't be strong up north; the NW winds after the eye has passed through will be much stronger here (but still nothing to compare with what the south coast will be getting).
