Winter 2010 was terrible, it did well to survive .Tom and Shell wrote:this is the first year its had lights on, never had any protection at all, the 7 foot cordyline in front of it got smoked in 2010, the washy has never had any problems at allcordyman wrote:is that the only protection it gets? impressive for yorkshire

Dave quite seriously I would heap praise on anyone here in Darwin who had as lovely a tropical garden as yours to look out onto, but to think that you have achieved this in the UK...sensational!

Re: Bringing festive cheer to a bleak time of year
Thanks Sean, but there are a lot of plants dying back for winter, probably much as plants die back in the dry season in Darwin. The camera only picks out the major plantings like palms so looks better on the pic than in real life
Best regards
Dave

Nice palm but not convinced its a washy. Are you sure it's not a Trachycarpus?Tom and Shell wrote:this is the first year its had lights on, never had any protection at all, the 7 foot cordyline in front of it got smoked in 2010, the washy has never had any problems at allcordyman wrote:is that the only protection it gets? impressive for yorkshire

I'm inclined to agree, if the Cordyline was smoked a Washie would have been at least defoliated. Mine was, even with a parasol protection in Dec 2010.Yorkshire Kris wrote:Nice palm but not convinced its a washy.
