£150 best single specimen, what would you buy?

Post by cordyman »

Dicksonia antarctica, large Cerifera, Jelly palm, Armata, Yucca Rostrata, if you had £150 today to put towards a lovely single specimen exotic what would you buy and why?

Even better put a link to said purchase as I know a few nurseries are running sales at the moment.

Personally I'd buy an English grown waggy or yucca linearis, these to are as good as hardy at the size you could buy for £150, there's lots more to choose from but if you cant afford to lose money these are two. karl.

Well seeing as you have loads of trachycarpus I would go for either the big 7 foot Dicksonia antarctica or a chammie Arborescens.
My Arborescens was £100 from Amulree last year in the sale and with a 100cm trunk a friggin steal.
maybe give the palm centre a ring and see what they have.

A pic of my chammie is in my blog towards the end.

Or a large Waggie

Cordy, nigel kembrey at hardypalm's.co uk is the man for linearis, I've had lots of variations & size's off him, if you speak to him nice he will look after you  . Also if your after a nice chammy replacement go for one of palmcentre's XL cerifica, speak to toby he'll look after you also. karl.

A nice Butia Oderata, I've got one that's about 5ft tall but a larger one would be nice. I paid £60 for mine so I reckon you'd find a nice one for that ton and a half, Nigel would be a good bet to have a nice specimen I think.

Push the wallet a bit and get this beauty, almost 8ft tall for £200 with a reasonable postage cost and the opportunity to negotiate a deal:
