New arrivals ....!

Post by samtobuk »

Knowing how during these dull winter months, it's actually exciting to see what other people have bought ........ I thought I'd share this week's deliveries with you all! :D

Having to post in new members forum as don't seem to have permission to add images in any other one.

Came home yesterday to find all three orders had arrived .......... have been taking advantage of some of the Jan discounts (already took one delivery before this, and one more still to come! ).

If you want to see where they are going, see my new members thread here ...

viewtopic.php?f=34&t=21895

Apprecaite any advice you guys can offer on planting schemes once I've widened the borders, need to work out how to space out palms and decide what will grow to what size over time ...... have certainly got plenty to work with now ....... just have to somehow create some space in my already full 8x6 to keep them all safe for a couple more months!

Thanks, pretty pleased with them myself (although one or two are slightly underwhelming on size, but that's always going to happen when buying from photos).

I ordered from Big Plant Nursery, The Palm Centre and another place I found called GardeningExpress who have a good selection of plants and some really good discounts on right now.

There's also a Pseudosasa bamboo behind that door, and a nice spider web Fatsia. 8)

I have heard of all those nurseries,

I have bought from Desert to Jungle. They sell Ferns, Palms, Nanas like Basjoo and Sikis.

Yep, bananas are next on the list before Spring, but struggling to find many places that have many varieties in stock - perhaps that will change over the coming weeks. Amulree seems to be the best place, but the postage is a bit steep (at least if you are only spending £40, the post is £16 on top).

If I'm missing any good banana websites, let me know!

I can also recommend Desert to Jungle.

Thanks Grub, will have a look via google translate. Have you ordered from them? Can you get decent sized plants from them with not too crazy postage costs?

I've had a fair bit from Achims, it's all been reasonable quality, postage is okay too. You can expect plants with about 6" to 8" of pseudostem. icon_thumleft

I wouldn't mind ordering a Musa Thai Black from them.
