Re: Heat to return

Well we had an awesome spell of lovely ,Summer Weather here in Rhyl for about 4 or 5 weeks. Clear blue skies and temps in the high twenties ( even reached 30c in my garden on one occasion) No rain at all for 4 weeks and i was having to get the hose out to water the plants and lawn most nights...... ...

Re: Crocosmia ( George Davidson)

A fantastic little crocosmia that I'd recommend is "Emily Mackenzie"... Much, much shorter than standard, and with a more open flower, and terrific orange colour..... icon_thumright I`ve got some of them. They are in flower right now and are the most striking plant in my garden at the mo. I also ha...

Re: Yorkshire Kris blog:digging video garden update

One thing i would say Kris is ...... all your design seems to be around very straight, square lines, straight paths, square borders,Square raised beds and straight line plantings of Bamboo`s etc. Probably it`s a personal thing but personally if i had a space as large as that to go wild with i`d be wa...

Vid works fine for me icon_thumleft
Looks a tad daunting to me. It`s a very large area to landscape. Not sure i`d know where to start??
I guess it`s all relative though. It probably looks like a postage stamp to Kristen!

IT`S ALIVE !

About Ten days ago i decided to take a hand saw to my dead Washie to cut it back even further, just to see if there was any solid trunk inside there at all. I`d already cut about 8 or 9 inches of trunk off it and came across nothing but mush. This time i managed to find some solid flesh in there. Th...

Re: How are your Musa Basjoo's doing?

Not had any winds of more than around 3mph here for at least 3 weeks now and certainly no gusting winds, so that and the hot Weather is certainly helping my Basjoos to reach new heights. Think i need to take a few pics tomorrow but i`m guessing they`re reaching around the 9ft mark now which is brill...

Re: HOT Weather

As i left work on my dinner break today ,my cars temperature sensor @ 1300 UTC read 29.5C. My work mates Car temp Sensor read 28C, my Weather station at home ( in the most shaded place in my garden) read 30.5C . Met office and BBC seem to have only put us down for 27C icon_scratch ? So not sure what...

Re: Turkish hosedown, give it a try

'Montbeliardii' Don actually made a point on Gardeners World tonight saying ` don`t just water your plants in the Greenhouse but water the ground as well as this creates a cooler , but more humid climate which a lot of plants like` . I thought it was a great tip. Same sorta thing.

Does anyone else remember the swarms of Ladybirds in 1976?? Or was that just a thing that happened in North Wales?
