Re: Bamboo longevity

-14 in new zealand!!  I thought you got mild winters! Surely all the cordys would be cut down at that and it is even approaching Trachycarpus killing tremperatures. My valley been inland by 70kms and having three low maintain ranges between us and the Pacific means we get extremes in...

Re: Your daily weather blog -June 2011 onward

That's interesting billdango,if we ever have a 19 over night low it would always be at least in the 30's the next day.

Weather in my area today was a mod to strong NW (max gusts about 60km)off the mountains, high of 16C,overnight low 8.8deg

Re: young cordylines

Cordyline australis been a native of New Zealand is one grow about 200 per year which i plant out around my 5 hectares, ive been doing this for ten years now,so i think i'm a bit of a expert at growing them. That sound horrible Nigel :ahhh!: i really appreciate living in New Zealand where we dont have any snakes or poisonous spiders, the only cockroaches are a native type but not on the South Island where i am,our native one does tend to stay in the forest thankfully

Re: Wind !

Nada, zilch, no wind at all this summer. This picture of my banana grove would be the same even had I taken a video. No tears, rips or bent leaves.
