Closing the HTUK Forum
What an absolute shame. I only joined in 2011 so I haven't been around as long as most but over the last 9 years i have found this forum invaluable. My garden wouldn't have turned into what it is today if it wasn't for all the information and advice I have gained from here. So i think it is great th...

Chamaerops humilis help!
Hi Mario.
I have no idea what it is or what causes it, but all my three chamaerops get it through the winter.
However with mine its usually only the oldest ones and those lowest to the soil. I just cut them off every spring.
Sorry i cant be of better help.

Astelia grown too big
Thanks flounder. Falling off the wall cannot be discounted. Yeah it is a great plant. I had this year decided to finally do an arid bed. Dig out all of the gritty soil and replace it with 100% grit and get some agave's in, my aloe polyphylla and a yucca rostrata etc and the astelia is slap bang in t...

Callistemon Bottlebrush
I have callistemon rigidus, bought as an small shrub from forum member, and was planted in a raised bed several years ago. It too, did not flower for the first two summers it was planted. However since then it has flowered annually. Yes they do tend to grow leggy and the bottom of the stems have no ...

Jungle Garden for Sale - with House!
Wow can't believe your leaving it. I visited your garden on the NGS maybe 3 years, maybe 4. It was amazing. If i left my garden, I'd have to dog most up and take with me. Then again mine is not as impressive as yours and I was so so so jealous of your raised tiki hut/seating area/hut thing. Fabulous.

Tree id
Yes i think from the look of it, it may have suffered during certain winters over the years it has been there. You can see where branches etc may have died and then the tree has resprouted from somewhere else on a branch etc, its a very bizarre shape.
But the location it relatively sheltered.

Re: Tree id
Thanks Greville
Never heard of it and yes what name, I'll never remember that one.
I am surprised if has survived in Sheffield.
The garden centre used to sell all the plants you could find in it's grounds but has been taken over by a chain. A shame I never spotted it before.

Good evening all,
I saw this tree in the grounds of Loxley garden centre. It had lovely gnarly red bark.
Any ideas what it is?

Re: On the other hand..
I would say Buxton where I work, Harpur Hill. it seems to have its own cold, windy, foggy, rainy micro climate alll year round. Mostly due to the altitude I guess. in summer I can leave a blue sky sunny rotherham to a foggy rainy Buxton all day then come back home to lovely sun and retired neighbou...
