Re: hosta protection

CHICKENS!! Not got a slug or snail anywhere in my garden. Unfortunately last years favourite meal was ....YES, young hosta leaves. Hoping this year they gorged on them that much its made them sick of the site of them and they move on to something else.

Re: Canna seeds

ive just germinated some canna seeds. The compost was sterile before use. The seedlings were ok till they reached about an inch long and then i noticed them all seeming to go brown and rot. The compost around the seed itself seems to have lots of mould growth. this looks like it has transferred to t...

Re: fruit and veg patch

Keep an eye on them to make sure they dont rot and wait. Some are quicker than othe...

Re: calla from seed

thanks for the answers, Yes most of the seeds have rotted by now. they were sown on the top of sterile mp compost and placed in a propagator at 20/25 degrees. I think i will just look for some corms instead.

Re: red spider mite protection help

Yes yorkshire kris you are completely right about this, but the diatomaceous earth is used to eliminate a number of different insect infestations not just the red mite that attack fowl.

Re: red spider mite protection help

As a chicken keeper red spider mite is the bane of my life. They infest the coop and can actually kill the chicken if not treated as they come out at night and suck the blood from the bird. Horrendously difficult to get rid of. Ive tried all the propriotory chemicals and nothing worked. A couple of ...
