Re: Musa itinerans 'Indian Form'

@ Dave: When you plant them in full ground and dig them up, that's not a problem for the plant itself. But it's not easy to dig them up without damaging the rhizomes (and they go deep and wide ! ) Thats the reason why I kept this plant in pot till this year. @ Grub: how cold was it in your place, an...

Re: Musa itinerans 'Indian Form' UPDATE

I've planted the M. itinerans 'Indian Form' (the one on the photo in my previous post) in full ground this spring. The plant has quite short leaves (for that size of pseudostem) in comparison to other species, this makes him good wind resistend (it's a quite unsheltered place there). He's making (ru...

Re: Shusui's garden blog

The Cypripediums are completly hardy, they get no protection. a few species (like C. henry) growing very early and could be damaged by late night frost. Then they get protected by pine needles , but for the most species is this not neccesary I grow them in a well drained mix of 90% vulca and 10% pot...

The picture is made in september I think, all plants are big and fullgrown. Now the banana's and Colocacia's are just 2 weeks planted out.
I will make a sort of garden blog when I have some time.

Re: What has been your low this winter

The lowest temperature we had was -19,5°C
The temperature was 15 days continuously below 0°C. And 7 nights where below -10°c.

Not good for exotic plants...
