A couple of exotic surprises.
Grev, you know what they say about an ill wind and all that, obversely the same applies to a hot dry spring. Is it just you that is locked down in London or the rest of the family as well?

Sonchus from seed
I brought some Sonchus seed back from the Canneries two years ago they germinated and the seedlings were overwintered out side. I have some planted out in the garden. They germinated without any problem at all. However the seed was fresh, I picked it myself. icon_thumleft EDIT, I should have said I ...

Dicksonia Antarctica Frond Pruning
Personally I would leave well alone, we don't chop leaves of other garden plants with out good reason. So why Dicksonia antarctica? I recently saw a post on another forum by Kev Spence who had left his leaves to die on the plant, which then hung down the trunk. I thought it looked much more natural ...

Transplanting Cordylines
Hi Andy, If you don't want to lose it I recommend you leave it well alone. I recon you have a 90% chance of killing it if you move it. They really do not like the roots messed with in my experience. Jas.

Tree fern is scorched and no new fronds
Mine had 4 leaves when I bought it last year and then grew another one later in the year. Although I told you it had grown 13 leaves this year another one is coming out of the centre as I compose this. The leaves are longer than last year so I am assuming it is reasonably happy although not full siz...

Tree fern is scorched and no new fronds
HI Chad, thanks for taking the trouble to look and expressing what you found. I was curious because I bought one last summer but I kept it in the pot it was already in as I was not ready to plant it in the garden for reasons I wont bore you with! It was kept in the greenhouse over winter with the do...
