It's inevitable the youngsters progress onto social media, whereas us of the older generation tend to prefer the layout of a web forum.

If you see the areas they originate from, I'd say it's winter wet that causes it. Better drainage certainly helps, but even on my porous chalk, my chammys normally show some spotting

I've divided them just like any normal perennial, but having said that, I'm sure I read somewhere that they dislike root disturbance! The worst that will happen is you kill the plant....or fall off the wall
