It's a summer patio plant. Not hardy for our winters. They can take full sun all day if acclimatised to it. Plunge the pot and have roots grow out the bottom into the ground. Errr, no! I went out to work at 5.30am and there was no rain and it was pretty calm. Then at 5.50am it suddenly arrived. The car was being blown about, tree branches coming down. The windows in the building at work were rattling like mad. By 7am it all died down again. Coming home at 8am the roads were chaos ...

If it's of any comfort to me the new development at the bottom of my garden affords quite a lot of shelter from south/south westerly winds and my neighbours house is to the west side and a metre higher so acts as a windbreak as well. It's easterlies that do damage as my house and garden are totally ...

The forecast winds for me is the strongest i've seen for many years. Very rare to get gusts stronger than 50mph at worst. My greenhouse took a battering last time so i fear it may be damaged come monday morning.
