I have heard of one a few miles from me in Rainham (Medway Towns), not seen it yet myself, but Mixie and Kentgardener have. It is about 40 feet tall. and 100 or so years old. Good job Doug - that will keep it upright until it gets its roots down. Once it does it should be able to cope with any wind. Here is one I saw at Christmas (it was bloody hard to stand up it was so windy!)

Derek, Looking at the main lights photo I am guessing you are the house in the centre. That Cordy/palm is crying out for rope lights to be wrapped up it's trunks in spirals.
