Re: What is wrong with fruit on my peach tree?

I've got a Perigrine fan trained on a trellis, planted 18 months ago, so no fruit yet. On a fan trained tree, you can protect againt leaf curl by covering with clear polythene on a timber frame, from mid wnter to spring. The spores are carried in rain, so keeping the plant dry will help. You have to...

Indian Horse Chestnut dead like the conker trees

A while back I mentioned that I had bought an Indian Horse Chestnut from The Place For Plants. I planted it in my large raised bed and not long after it started looking sickly. The edges of the leaves turned brown and crisp, and now the whole plant is knackered. At first I couldn't work out what was...

Re: Whos supporting who ?

After England went out we all supported the Dutch as my grandad was Dutch. But by the end of the match I was glad Spain won. Never know the Dutch were such dirty players.

Re: Own made fertilizer/feed is now ready.

I read or heared somewhere ages ago that you can soak any weed that can't go on the compost heap because of roots (but no seeds) in water and after a month or so this liquid can be diluted and used as feed. I've had a plastic dustbin full of the stuff for about 18 months now. As the plant material r...

Re: I'm in need of some inspiration!

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! I'll make a list and research them all when I have more time. MH - you remembered I don't like Spotty Dotty, but forgot I hate yellow flowers! I'm not really in to bulbs, apart from Lillies. Di - I have a few Hellibores I haven't planted yet so they could go in, ...

I'm in need of some inspiration!

I've just dug a new border on the east (garden) side of a trellis fence which borders my veg plot. Even though it's east facing it still gets a good amount of sun through the day. I've planted a T-Rex, Bordina Papyrefera and a Loquat. Now there's alot of bare soil left between these, and I can't thi...

Chalk Brow - can any of those you listed be grown against an east facing trellis?

Re: kiwi and feijoa

Hi Michelle - I'm no expert but I'll give it a go. Are they getting enough sun? Both need a sunny posistion to do well, especially the Feijoa. Have you pruned them? If so, you may have pruned off the flower/fruit buds. You could give them a feed high in potash, to encourage flower/fruit formation. H...

Re: Abutilon megapictum

Bought one at the Place for Plants a couple of weeks ago, and planted it against a south facing wall this weekend, but for part of the day it will be shaded by other plants. I really hope this one pulls through winter, a lovely plant.

Glad you got your plant at long last. But you're right, their customer service is diabolical.
